About Us

About Us Samadhi TreeNicholas Scali is a medical doctor who has had 6 years experience working within the public health system in NSW, Australia and is trained as a specialist paediatric doctor, however has transitioned into private practice with a primary focus on emotional, psychological and spiritual health.

He sees health as not merely the absence of disease, but rather as the thriving of mind, body, spirit, community and nature. He also sees that the intersection of community, society, and ecosystems with the health of the individual is an important focus point.

Since completing his work within the public health system in 2021, Nicholas has been offering group/community courses in meditation, nature connection, ritual, and herbal medicine, deepening his studies in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, has been training in and practicing Internal Family Systems, and has been visioning new ways of creating holistic, collaborative health models within the Northern Rivers community where he lives and loves.

Nicholas was called to study medicine from the age of 15 years, when he discovered for himself that being of service to others, particularly those facing deep challenges, was a sure path to joy for him. Knowing his love for science, learning, human connection and service, medicine seemed like the obvious path to him.

As he traveled the world, deepened his study, broadened his perspective and matured through experience, Nicholas discovered that the mainstream medicine that he grew up surrounded by in Sydney, Australia, was certainly not the only form of medicine and healing that is being used.

Through his own challenges, growth and experiences, he continues to explore, to learn and to refine his offerings, giving what he has learned experientially in the most empowering and beneficial way that he can support and serve others.

Nicholas is an avid meditator, with his experience starting at the age of 15 when he began a regular practice of Astanga yoga, which he continued deepening with for 12 years subsequently.

He discovered Vipassana meditation in the tradition of S.N Goenka in 2010 and has been practicing a multitude of forms of Buddhist meditation since then.

In 2019 Nicholas studied and practiced at Pa-Auk monastery in Myanmar and also that year completed his training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with the Mindfulness Training Institute Australia (MTIA). This 8-week course created by Jon Kabat-Zinn has been influential and foundational in the way he teaches mindfulness and meditation.

In 2020 born from his own experience with plants well known to Chinese Medicine, his curiosity pulled him into the world of Chinese Medicine and he began studies guided by a mentor and practitioner of Chinese and Traditional Western Herbal Medicine.

In 2021, Nicholas was accredited as an acupuncturist through the Australian Medical Acupuncture College.

In 2023 Nicholas completed training in Internal Family systems (IFS) through the IFS Instiute, and in 2024 completed the Level 2 IFS training, through the same institute (the only official channel).

Nicholas now feels that the inspiring pathway from here involves collaborating and communicating with other practitioners in a deeper way to offer clients a truly collaborative, holistic and multi-modal model of care.
